Kingspan Light + Air launches its first RECOVR takeback scheme in the Netherlands

Kingspan Light + Air Netherlands has introduced a RECOVR takeback scheme for selected aluminium natural ventilation products, smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV), and glass roof systems. Available in the Netherlands from December 2025, the RECOVR scheme enables eligible products to be collected at the end of their service life and processed for recycling, with at least 90% of the product mass processed for recycling.

The takeback guarantee is provided at no cost to the user and applies to products that meet the scheme's eligibility and recycling conditions. It offers customers a clear and practical route for end-of-life handling of aluminium and glass systems, supporting material recovery and reducing disposal through landfill or incineration.

"With this takeback guarantee, we are providing a clear and reliable framework for how selected systems are handled at the end of their service life," says Bastin Mewis, Managing Director at Kingspan Light + Air Netherlands. "It removes uncertainty around disposal and ensures materials are processed through established recycling routes."

Returned products are processed through recycling partners based in the Netherlands. Based on reporting from these partners, at least 90% of the aluminium and glass mass can be recovered and returned to the market as secondary raw material.

The RECOVR scheme focuses on product groups largely composed of aluminium and glass materials that can be recycled efficiently when systems are properly dismantled and separated.

"Designing systems for dismantling and material separation is key to achieving effective recycling," says Niels de Zaaijer, Manager Compliance & QHSE at Kingspan Light + Air. "By working with experienced local processors, we can support consistent and reliable recovery outcomes."

Although the typical service life of the systems ranges from 15 to 25 years, the takeback guarantee is available immediately to cover repair during usage life. Systems currently being replaced that meet the scheme's conditions can already be returned for recycling.

For new Kingspan Light + Air projects, customers will receive a certificate of promise confirming eligibility for free end-of-life collection and processing for specified Kingspan Light + Air systems. On request, a project-specific certificate detailing the recovered aluminium in weight at end-of-life may be used to support reporting and material recovery disclosures.

Further information about the take-back scheme, including eligibility criteria, is available at:

Kingspan Light + Air Netherlands will assess the potential expansion of the takeback guarantee to additional product groups over time, based on material composition, processing options, and partner capacity.
